Vice President
Erica Rowe-Owen is the Vice President of the PHIRE organization for Spring 2021. She is currently enrolled in the MS Population Health Informatics Program and is expected to graduate in Fall 2021. She serves as the Operations Program Coordinator for the Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) at Bronx Community College and is tasked with providing operational and analytical support to the team of academic advisors, administrative and management team; but most importantly – to the students enrolled in the program. By enrolling in the MS Population Health Informatics, her goal is learning the skill of building and using dashboards of student data to provide population-based health care to the entire college community through efficient data management processes including documentation, reporting, and analysis of these student’s health data.
Additionally, Erica is interested in working with organizations in providing resources to CUNY students for help with food insecurity, physical and mental health, educational challenges, and other issues that can interfere with academic success. CUNY students are far more likely to be negatively impacted based on race, gender, and socio-economic standings and as such this population of students are faced with various health disparities. Over the last few years, it has become clear to her that health disparities are not only centered in economically under-developed countries or communities, but also in more developed countries and major cities as well.
